| We believe that the service surrounding the death of
an individual should be reflective of the family’s wishes, not
the funeral home or its staff.
Listening to the family is a key aspect of our service. A number
of families already have decided what type of service they want.
Others are looking for direction, as well as options. I try to ascertain
from what direction the family is coming, and where they want to
go, whether it is a “traditional service”, cremation,
body donation, or anywhere in between.
We offer the traditional mix of services that most funeral homes
offer. We may differ a bit from other funeral homes by the fact
that we attempt to serve each family, as friends, and not a customer.
And secondly, I attempt to meet with each family, and work with
them from when we are first contacted, to the end of our service.
PRICES
Probably the single most common question I receive is about cost:
how much is a funeral? And that is a tricky question. It’s
like asking how much is a car. Do want to drive a Kia or do you
want to drive a Jaguar? Quite honestly all I can give you is a range
from about $4500 to $8500. It can be more, or it can be less. In
using the above range, I’m including our services, a casket
and vault (outer burial container), and cash advances, such as sales
tax, flowers, newspaper fees, and cemetery expenses, to name a few.
An immediate cremation service is usually in the neighborhood of
$1000 to $1500. In recent years, I’ve noticed that a number
of families that do prefer cremation, also request additional services
such as visitations, funerals, or memorial services, as well as
an urn. One should bear in mind, that as additional services are
requested, the total price of the funeral service will rise.
For a number of years, I have used an itemized General Price List.
This list shows a fee for each type of service or merchandise that
we normally have available. The benefit of this type of pricing
is that if you don’t use it, you don’t pay for it. As
an example, we have a limousine available for the funeral service,
if you elect to use it in the funeral procession, there is a fee,
and if it isn’t used, there is no charge. If you would want
a copy of our General Price List, please contact us. |
